Acupuncture for sports injuries

Acupuncture for sports injuries can be a field all into itself as acupuncture is extremely effective in the treatment of inflammation, myofascial trigger point therapy, musculoskeletal disorders, nerve growth regeneration, and healing of injured tissues. Studies on acupuncture done in colleges across the United States have shown extreme resolve and efficacy in the treatment of a wide variety of sports injuries with much of the emphasis focused on understanding the mechanisms behind acupuncture stimulating stem cell growth, prostaglandin, calcitonin gene related peptide, white blood cells, glutamate, serotonin, and many more peptides, that help the regeneration of damaged tissue and improved healing time.

Combine the healing effects to traumatically damage tissue with the ability of acupuncture to help with soft tissue mobilization, trigger points, inflammation, and you could see how any injury could be treated at the root as well as the symptoms. Here is a list of the most commonly treated sports injuries in my office on a weekly basis: contusions, abrasions, strains, sprains, concussions, fractures, herniations, tendinitis, tendinosis, and various tears.
